So how does IPL hair removal actual work?
When you place the IPL device against your skin, it emits a pulse of gentle light that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair. This light turns into heat, which travels down the hair shaft and targets the root (hair follicle).
The heat damages the follicle just enough to slow down or stop future hair growth. Because hair grows in cycles, the IPL will only affect hairs that are actively growing at the time of treatment. That’s why multiple sessions are needed – to catch all hairs in this active growth phase.
